Making Movies to Improve & Expand Social Skills (ages 8-12) - $175 per session
The Video Detective social skills group is a 90-minute experience that uses role-playing, movie-making, and peer interaction to help teach children how to navigate complex social situations. The group is designed to focus on more advanced social topics including bullying, maintaining friendships, and understanding empathy. Video Detective is ideal for children who have difficulties understanding our world of intricate social cues.
Each week the group will break down social situations into understandable parts and create their own videos. Part 1 of each class will begin with the group discussing a challenging social situation. Part 2 will require the children to work together with their peers to create a script. And part 3 of each class will be filming and starring in their own performance!
Learning is Fun
Although we understand that learning social skills is extremely challenging for our students, we make sure that they have fun while learning. We want your children to laugh and be silly with their peers. We provide a structured setting and a language-rich environment that naturally promotes socialization. Our teachers are extremely knowledgeable in the field of special needs, autism, and behaviors, but they are also excellent at creating fun and engaging lessons.
